Katherine Kakish

Katherine Kakish of Dearborn has been sworn in as the chair of the State Bar of Michigan Representative Assembly for 2008-09. Michigan Court of Appeals Judge Michael J. Talbot officiated at the afternoon ceremony, during the State Bar Annual Meeting at the Hyatt-Regency Hotel in Dearborn on Thursday, September 18.

The Representative Assembly is the final policy-making body of the State Bar of Michigan. "It is an honor to be a part of the leadership team of the Representative Assembly and to help resolve policy issues that confront the legal profession in Michigan," Kakish said.

Kakish was elected to the 150-member Representative Assembly in 2002. She has served on various committees in the State Bar and as vice-chair and clerk of the Assembly. She is also a member of the State Bar Board of Commissioners and the SBM Executive Committee.

Kakish is an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Michigan. She currently works in the Licensing and Regulation Division of the Department of Attorney General. Previously, she worked at the Department’s Driver’s License Restoration Section. She also worked as a research attorney at the Michigan Court of Appeals and as Law Clerk to the Honorable Michael J. Talbot.
